Supporting Children with Chronic Illness: Championing Trauma-Informed Care is a comprehensive presentation designed to deepen provider understanding of medical traumatic stress (MTS) and learn practical strategies for championing trauma-informed care. The workshop will begin by defining MTS and participants will be able to describe the impact of MTS on children, families, and providers. Attendees will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of MTS in those interacting with the healthcare system. Finally, the session will offer practical strategies for mitigating MTS through a trauma-informed framework—equipping attendees with valuable tools for collaborating with healthcare providers and championing trauma-informed care to support children with chronic illness.
