Dog Obedience Competition
  • No entry restriction. This competition is open to all breeds and ages

Junior Run (Kid + Dog Buddy Race)
  • Junior handler must be between the age of 6-12

Judging Criteria
Dog Agility Competition (For Small Dogs)

1. HURDLE JUMP: Dog must leap over a 12” height bar without displacing it. Getting into contact or dropping the bar will result in +5s added to the final time.

2. WEAVE POLES: Consists of 8 upright poles. Dog must enter to the right of the first one and weave through each of the others quickly, without missing a pole. Popping out of the poles, entering incorrectly, or running by the weave poles is scored as a fault and will result in +2s added to the final time for each pole missed.

3. PAUSE BOX: Dog must stop and stay within the box for five consecutive seconds, failing which the dog can re-attempt this station up to 3 tries before advancing to the next stage.

4. TUNNEL: Dog must enter the slightly curved tunnel from one side and exit through the other.

5. HOOP JUMP: Dog must jump quickly and cleanly through the opening of the hoop. Getting into contact or colliding with the hoop will result in +5s added to the final time.

6. FINISH: The timer stops once the dog crosses the finish line.

Dog Obedience Competition

Each exercise holds a maximum of 10 points. Each handler starts with a total of 20 points. Thereafter, points are deducted for each error the handler/dog makes.

1. RECALL:

On order from the emcee, the Handler may give the command to the dog to stay and will leave the dog in a sitting position and walk at least six (6) metres away from the dog, before turning around to face the dog. On further order from the emcee, the Handler may attract the dog’s attention by saying its name once and then give a command to come. The dog must come straight to its Handler at a brisk pace and sit directly in front without further command.

- 5 points penalty: For a dog that breaks from position, does not come on the first command, slow response to commands, or failure to come at a brisk pace.

- 2 points penalty: For a dog that fails to sit directly in front of the Handler after being called.

2. SIT STAY (Group exercise):

The Handlers will take up their positions with their dogs sitting in heel position to the left foot of the Handler. On order from the emcee, the Handlers may give their dogs a command to stay and will immediately leave and walk approximately six (6) metres away from the dog, before turning around to face the dog. After 30 seconds, emcee will give the order for Handlers to return to their dogs and the dogs must not move from the sitting position until the exercise is over.

- 5 points penalty: For a dog which fails to remain in the sitting position or moves more than half of its body length from where it was left.

- 2 points penalty: For minor movements, eg. fidgeting.

Junior Run Competition

A friendly run for dogs and their junior owners, so the rules are simple! On order of the emcee, Junior Handlers to lead (with leash) their dogs to the finish line, 50 meters ahead, with the fastest time! Handlers must not drag and tug on the leash, and both Handler and the dog must cross the finish line.
