Whether you're interested in writing picture books, chapter books, or young adult novels - this forum is the perfect place to get started. Come prepared with questions and ideas to gain a comprehensive understanding of the process behind creating a successful children's book!
What?
Interactive break out groups, giving you hands-on experience with book writing, publishing, and marketing tactics.
Publishing Break Out Group:
Guests will get a chance to gain insight into the business side of their craft by hearing from an experienced editor and publisher about how they work with new authors and manuscripts. They will also have an opportunity to ask any questions they may have about submitting proposals or working with a publisher. Additionally, guests will receive an in-depth look into the process of writing, illustrating, formatting, designing, printing and promoting their story.
Marketing Break Out Group:
During the marketing a children's book breakout group, guests will learn how to develop effective strategies for marketing books aimed at young readers. We'll discuss traditional and digital techniques such as print advertising in newspapers and magazines, social media campaigns, creating website content about your book, working with influencers, and using word of mouth to reach potential buyers. By the end of this breakout session, guests will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to create an effective marketing plan for any children's book.
Creativity Break Out Group:
During the creativity behind writing a children's book breakout group, guests will have the opportunity to learn about some of the key elements that make up a successful children's book. Participants can explore different ways to create story lines and plots, as well as how to develop characters and settings that are engaging for young readers. In addition, they will be able to discuss best practices for illustrating content and the importance of reading aloud to young children. After the session, participants will have a better understanding of how to bring their original ideas to life in a children’s book format.
