The Learning Lamp and 1st Summit Bank present the 17th Annual Children's Book Festival!
Join us for this FREE event on March 28th and 29th, 2026 in Johnstown, PA!
The Children’s Book Festival provides children in grades PreK – 6 and their families with a FREE, interactive and engaging literary experience that inspires a love for books and the arts, encourages parents to read with their children, and gives families access to affordable new and used books to build home libraries. Every child who attends will receive a free book to take home!
New this year: Headlining author presentations will take place in the beautiful Grand Halle, 306 Broad Street, while additional festival activities will happen at the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, 411 Third Avenue, creating an expanded, multi-venue experience for the whole family.
AUTHORS/ILLUSTRATORS/STORYTELLERS:
· Lauren Tarshis – Acclaimed author of the bestselling I Survived series, Tarshis brings history to life with gripping stories and unforgettable characters, inspiring young readers to explore history and develop a lasting love of reading.
· Aaron Reynolds – Award-winning author of Nerdy Birdy, Creepy Crayon!, and more, Reynolds combines humor, imagination, and heart to captivate children while encouraging creativity and fun.
· Joe Wos – Pittsburgh cartoonist and host of PBS’s Cartoon Academy, Wos leads interactive storytelling and cartooning workshops, teaching young artists how to draw characters and explore artistic creativity.
· Mike Zaffuto, Rock ‘N Roll Pet Store – Children’s entertainer Mike Zaffuto brings a magical, music-filled pet store experience to life with puppetry, live animals, and interactive fun, sparking imagination in every attendee.
PLUS: Families can enjoy themed arts and crafts, writing and illustration workshops, new and used book sales, delicious treats from local food trucks, and a children’s bookmark contest with prizes for each age group.
