About this Event
Domestic abuse is seen as one of the main causes of risk to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. 25% of girls and young women and 18% of boys and young men (aged 13-17 years) have disclosed experiencing some form of physical violence from an intimate partner (SafeLives, 2017).
This half-day course is designed to explore domestic abuse (DA) risk to children and young people (CYP) in an intimate partner relationship, how to assess this and how to use this information to create effective safety plans. This course also includes information on how to respond to disclosures, and an additional section exploring the housing options available to CYP.

Attendees will be contacted one week ahead of the course to confirm their attendance. As our training is very popular this helps us to offer vacant places to other professionals at the earliest opportunity.
It is recommended that professionals attend our full-day training courses on “Domestic Abuse Awareness” and "Domestic Abuse - Risk and Safety Planning" to develop a robust understanding of these learning areas.
Participant wellbeing
Attendees will be completing this training course within a group environment. Domestic abuse can be an emotionally impactful subject to discuss, and whilst trainers will strive to create a safe environment for learners it is important that all attendees are aware of their own triggers for trauma, how they may respond and how to care for themselves. Please do contact us on 0300 323 9985 or [email protected] and ask to speak confidentially to a trainer about any needs you may have ahead of the course.
