Childbirth & Newborn Care
Childbirth classes prepare you for delivery and are recommended for all first-time parents. This class answers many questions about your hospital stay, the birthing process and recovery. Other topics include coping skills, basic breathing techniques and pain management options. Attendees will tour The Birthplace with their class.
Newborn care and what to expect during the first few weeks at home are also included. Demonstrations and videos explain how to hold, soothe, diaper, bathe and feed baby. When to call the doctor, how to tell if baby is sick and what to do when baby cries are also covered. Fathers are strongly encouraged to attend.
This class takes place in the Lutheran Children’s Hospital conference room, located on the third floor of the main hospital, just off the visitor elevators and near the welcome desk.
