In this presentation, participants will gain an understanding of the basics and current research findings of Child-Centered Play Therapy.Child-Centered Play Therapy is an evidence-based model of play therapy which recognizes that the best way to understand a child’s behaviors and emotions is to empathically discover the way in which a child sees his or her world. This workshop serves to introduce clinicians to the basic tenets of the model, conceptualization of the themes in play therapy, as well as how to apply theory to practice. This workshop is best suited for those who are new to using CCPT or are looking to refresh their knowledge of theory and practice.
Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
-Gain a brief history of the model and latest research regarding Child-Centered Play Therapy.
-Gain an understanding of the basic tenets, skills, and stages of Child-Centered Play Therapy with the intention to apply theory to practice.
-Gain an understanding of conceptualizing play therapy themes from Child-Centered Play Therapy sessions.

*This program is approved for 3 hours of continuing education by WestGate TCN dba EMERGE Family Therapy Center under its accreditation by the state of South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Social Work, and Psychoeducational Specialist. EMERGE is an APT Approved Provider #08-235. This 3 hour contact event will count for 1 hour of Play Therapy Theory and 2 hours of Play Therapy Techniques. Play therapy credit is only awarded to mental health professionals.

What entrance to the building do I use for the event?
There will be signs outside directing you to the correct entrance. The event will be held on the bottom floor training room of EMERGE. You will enter in the side door of the building (to the right of the parking lot, facing the building) by the concrete staircase.

Your ticket may only be used for this event.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
The name on the ticket needs to match the name of the person attending the event. If you plan to buy a ticket for someone else, make sure to register with the name and email of the person planning to attend the event.
How do I receive CE credit for this workshop?
After the workshop you will receive an online evaluation. Once your evaluation is submitted electronically, you will be emailed a copy of your workshop certificate.
How is EMERGE approaching safety during COVID19?
All who enter the building will be screened for COVID19. Limited tickets are available for in person events, and we are offering online tickets for some CE Events. For those who attend in person, face masks are available and seating is spaced 6 feet apart. Our workshop rooms are also sanitized before and after events.
