About this Event

Child and youth programs are integral to fostering supportive networks for future generations in our community. Youth-serving organizations have a high level of responsibility to ensure proper child safety and risk-management policies are in place, up-to-date, and put to practice in everyday work. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria Capital Region has a comprehensive infrastructure for supporting mentoring partnerships: detailed screening of mentors to ensure child safety; a broad network of professional staff supporting mentors and volunteers; and systems for selecting, approving and supporting volunteers.

During this training, BBBS staff will share some strategies that they use at their agency to maintain child safety, empowerment, and protection in their matches. Participants will hear from staff across various areas of service delivery who will share what each of their roles entails in regard to these policies and practices. This workshop will include an interactive piece to foster exploration of practices that other community organizations utilize, focused both on highlighting existing strengths and identifying potential gaps for future development.

This is workshop is part of the Looking Forward Youth Project series. It is open to community youth programmers.

Please note that we have limited seating available for this workshop, with space for only 20 people.
