About this Event
Please join us in this training of Child Abuse and Neglect 101 hosted by CASA for Children and presented by our Executive Director Susan J. Harrison MSW, MPA, LGSW. We will be located in 112B/116B (B&O Auditorium) located on the 1st floor at 1704 Market Street. The building has Wi-Fi. There should be sufficient parking for those who will be attending.
We will be going over how the 'system' works and what this process looks like when families are involved in an abuse and neglect case. We will be going through what happens from the first CPS referral to investigation to removal to reunification. We will present information regarding how a case progresses through a civil abuse and neglect case.
This training will go over what principals guide our work, what mandated reporting is, and when we should be making the call to report. We will be giving an understanding to what is in place to help support these families through this process. An objective is to take a better look at what factors lead to or why parents may abuse or neglect their children. Finally is to give you an understanding of our role in CASA and how you can be a volunteer advocate for children in the future!
