You learn hands-on, knuckle deep how to harvest a live chicken!Harvesting the bird, plucking the feathers, removing head & feet, removing entrails and being left with a pristine poultry piece of edible art-- All await you!
Wear clothes you don't mind getting muddy or bloody. Bring a reusable water bottle, drinks or other sustenance. Bring a cooler to take any birds with you along with any other farm fresh goodies you wish to purchase. Then be ready to take charge of your food while becoming more connected to it.
Thanks to Southeast Tennessee Young Farmers, the class is available for free! You'll receive 3 hours of teaching & leave with the confidence to harvest your own flock if the time arises due to injury or age. After class, you will then will be able to purchase any processed birds (which average #3 each @5$/#) & shop our private stock of canned goods. Visit our website to shop ahead.
