This August 14 at Caravan Lounge β we dance deep and loud.
We do things for a reason, grounded in roots.
Chicha music is rebellious at heart β born of migration, struggle, and working-class creativity. So itβs no surprise that Los Shapis, icons of Peruvian chicha, resonated with punk. Their tribute to The Ramones β tight jeans, leather jackets, sunglasses β wasnβt imitation, but transformation.
This visual crossover is one of the most striking examples of cultural hybridization in Latin American pop culture: Andean rhythms mixed with psychedelic keyboards and electric guitars, combined with a rebellious visual identity borrowed from punk and rockβnβroll. Far from imitation, it was a bold act of appropriation β reinterpreting global countercultures through the lens of Peruvian street music.
