Chet Set should have been a one-off performance. However, the demand that followed band leader and frontman Pete Tanton's performance of the 1956 album Chet Baker Sings with the house band at Gateshead Central bar meant they couldn't just leave it there. They have since grown into a hugely popular ensemble in the region and now tour nationally. Old Black Cat Jazz Club events happen on the third Friday of each month and offer jazz fans—and the jazz-curious—an opportunity to enjoy fantastic live performances in intimate, beautiful surroundings, with exquisite acoustics and a like-minded crowd. While regular attendees may be used to traveling to the East End for our events, we’re bringing the programme to Sunderland Minster for 2025.
