The Chess Hive is back ! Come enjoy chess in a beginner friendly environment curated with good music. Free to play and open to all, no experience necessary ! Cash prize tournament available for those interested.

The Chess Hive is a Social Chess Club that hosts vibrant chess events across the city, creating welcoming spaces where anyone—from total beginners to seasoned players—can gather, learn, and play. Rooted in the belief that chess is more than a game, we prioritize good vibes over competition, encouraging curiosity, connection, and laid-back fun. Whether through live DJ sets or curated playlists, we use music to create an atmosphere that keeps things lively, relaxed and social. Our goal is to show chess is a bridge that connects communities that might not otherwise cross paths. We aim to cultivate a scene that makes the game accessible and memorable for everyone.

IMPORTANT ACCESSIBILITY INFO
We provide gender-neutral washrooms. We have one wheelchair accessible washroom. There is no wheelchair ramp. There is a set of 8 stairs to get into the building (7 steps, small landing, and then an 8th step). Once inside, the whole cafe floor is flat, with the exception of our small room to the side, which is a small step down.
We are licensed to provide alcohol, but serve a variety of non-alcoholic options.
This event takes place on the traditional unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin People.
