Our first book? Chasing Vermeer, by Blue Balliett: In the middle of a warm October Chicago night, three people receive a mysterious letter asking their help in correcting a great wrong of the art world. Soon after, a priceless Johannes Vermeer painting is stolen!
Meanwhile, Petra Andalee and Calder Pillay, two sixth grade classmates from Hyde Park, Chicago, begin to notice clues and strange patterns that point to the missing masterpiece—as well as strange behaviours in the adults around them.
Can Petra and Calder solve this robbery mystery that has left even the FBI baffled?
Junior Book Club is recommended for readers age 10–12 years old. This is a recurring club over the first four Wednesday's in May: happening May 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Early birds are welcome on Wednesday's, and we'll be set up for folks to hang out starting at 3pm.
Your registration fee includes a paperback copy of the book, snacks, and activities on all four afternoons.
