They are not only physically similar, but also share a unique approach to composition. Chassol and Basquiat create idiosyncratic works by sampling and assembling: one as a composer, the other as a painter. In their careers, sound and image play a crucial role. Chassol developed the groundbreaking genre ‘ultrascore’, in which music and image interact.
