The title piece Chasing Shadows explores the strangeness of catching glimpses of parts of yourself that you don’t fully recognize and don’t always like. A Long Way from Yellowtail uses both text and a sampling of Baroque music to poke fun at the “honeyed richness” of the literature and rituals of the world of wine. Time and the Tango of Life presents a character wrestling with loss the beauty of memories and the dispassionate and relentless onslaught of life. And so GOES the Monkey Mind examines what happens as we are pushed by life’s frenetic energy and are faced with enormous tectonic shifts. IDA’s Closest You'll Ever Get to Me choreographed by Brittney Kirkpatrick is a reflection on the Rumi quotation “Your task is not to seek for love but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it and embrace them.” The company’s second offering Colors is a celebration of the best aspects of being human and is choreographed by Carolyn Yates. T2 Dance Company will present an excerpt from in/Visible a work exploring the challenging and ever-changing issues around immigration choreographed by Erin Tunbridge.
