Come to the Superlative Awards Ceremony!
Join the Center for HIV and Research in Mental Health (CHARM) for our first ever Superlative Awards ceremony to celebrate exceptional individuals who go above and beyond to support those living with or impacted by HIV in honor of our late CAB members. The event will be held at CTSI Room 710 at Don Soffer Clinical Research Center from 5-7 PM. There will be delicious food for attendees and parking will be complimentary. Don't miss out on this unforgettable evening!
We will be announcing the winners for the following awards:
- Tyson Cash Community Healer Award: During his lifetime, Tyson Cash contributed to the health, well-being, and empowerment of people living with HIV in the South Florida Community. This recognition will be awarded to an individual who demonstrates his same commitment to community health and wellbeing.
- Meryl James Voice for the Voiceless Award: Meryl James was an exemplary advocate for those who often face marginalization or silence in the context of HIV in South Florida. During his life, he worked extensively with those impacted by the legal system (i.e. Pr*son, J*il), individuals who are unhoused, individuals underserved in healthcare, and individuals who have minoritized identities such as individuals of the Black, LGBTQIA+, and disabled communities. This recognition will be awarded to an individual who has made significant strides in advocating for these communities here in South Florida.
- Brenda C. Wilmont Resilience Award: Brenda C. Wilmont displayed extraordinary strength, perseverance, and commitment in navigating the challenges of living with, working in, and/or advocating for people affected by HIV in South Florida. To honor her legacy, this recognition will be awarded to an individual who has gone above and beyond to support those living with or impacted by HIV.
