At a recent Charlotte Relateful Gathering, we shared our intentions for the space::
• “Being real with each other, bringing what’s true for us.”
• “Healing… through loving community”
• “Being able to see ourselves through how others see us. I can see the hump on your back, and you can see the hump on mine. Getting to serve as mirrors for each other feels supportive of self awareness and self acceptance.”
• “Getting to be with how we affect others. When you share how I impact you, it shines a light on how my way of being ripples out into the world.”
• “Re-learning how to be in community. Expanding into more whole and interconnected ways of being. Growing up, I learned to not express my emotions, especially the negative ones. My parents would blame me for making them feel bad. Here, I get to experience a space where my negative emotions are welcomed as part of being human.”
• “I first started coming for professional development. But I kept coming for the community and connection.”
• “This practice has really helped me more lovingly hold my own discomfort, which has greatly expanded my ability to be with others' discomfort.”
• “Relatefulness helps me step into the flow of life, and out of living in my head. I hope to continue to live in more heartful, embodied, and integrated ways.”
If these insights resonate with you, this retreat offers a chance to deepen your journey in a supportive, co-creative environment.
Bring your heart's desire, gifts, and creativity. Much of the weekend will be spent in conversational flow, where any member of the group can lead us toward a new direction. The activities and structure of the weekend will be a reflection of what emerges between us.
⪡ Our Journey ⪢
During our retreat, we’ll spend lots of time sharing what it's like to be together. We’ll explore what is present in our connections through open groups, smaller pods, and paired activities. This context will enable us to delve into specific aspects of relating that feel alive in the group.
Last retreat one question that was especially pertinent was “what is in the way of us being closer, without needing to change it?” This allowed us to honor and feel the benefits of our boundaries. This exploration also created more space for us to make new choices about how to relate, or have more peace around the choices we are making.
People noticed one thing in the way of being closer was withholding their needs or wants from the group. People then started sharing more directly what they wanted. This led to an awareness that often the things we want more of from others, are things we want more of from ourselves. People began challenging each other in heartfelt ways to bring more of what they wanted, and many began stepping into new, more resilient, more empowered ways of being.
Our retreat will offer opportunities for surrendered leadership, where you can claim what you want and have the opportunity to lead the group toward it. It can also be beautiful to be with the impact of your share without needing to make anything happen, or to choose to be silent or rest.
Have any questions about this immersion or want to call to see if it’s the right fit? Please email [email protected] with the subject line, “Relateful Retreat Question”. I would be more than happy to email, call, or zoom.
