About this Event
Pete Rose. People love him or hate him. Think he got the bum's rush or is the bum. He is the undeniable hitting champion of baseball, beating Ty Cobb's record. But he has a lifetime ban from ever being recognized in MLB's Hall of Fame, although over twenty items of his ARE enshrined there. Charlie Hu$tle is a brand new musical from composer Neil Berg, (The 12, Grumpy Old Men) and Ryan Noggle (The Neighborhood, Saturday Night Live).
This musical is moving, frustrating, contradictory and complicated -- just like the man. With a compelling, contemporary score and a script written by a Los Angeles screenwriter, this show will leave you pondering the questions: How do we judge our heroes? Does Rose's punishment fit his crime? Do we have double standards - do as I say, not as I do?
Oakland Community College is proud to be staging the first production and be working directly with the creators on the story and message for this show.
As usual, performers are all OCC students and the show will be shadow interpreted by OCC students from the SLI department.
