About this Event
Our summer of Edinburgh Fringe Festibal Shows continues with Swindon-born award-winning writer and comedian Charlie George and one of the fastest rising stars on the South West Comedy Scene, Dani Johns!
CHARLIE GEORGE - DIVINE COMEDY
A WIP debut hour of explosive stand up & physical comedy from LGBTQ comedian of the year award winner & So You Think You’re Funny & Funny Women Awards runner up.
Meet Charlie George: a queer, autistic, mixed-race, working class, ex-Jehovah’s Witness escape artist & walking doomsday survival guide! Charlie left her childhood home so fast, even the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse couldn't catch her - which isn’t a nice nickname for your family.
Charlie has appeared on BBC Asian Network Live, Comedy Central in Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains and ITV2’s Stand Up Sketch Show. She has written for the likes of Charlie Brooker, Frankie Boyle, Kiri Pritchard-McClean, Joe Lycett & Mawaan Rizwan.
"Charlie George has an impressive but unsurprising list of accolades behind her. Before comedy she was a circus performer and dancer. This accounts for the fact that from her eyebrows to her mouth she has complete control over her body movements and uses them to full comic effect. She's just fun to watch! With dark, brilliantly-timed humour.” -Anna Staufenberg, Women in Comedy Festival.
DANI JOHNS - CRINGE
Cringe Cringe is an interactive, explorative show about laughing off your mistakes and owning your cringe-worthy past (or present, we won’t judge). It's a stand-up comedy show where Dani offloads the highs and lows of her most embarrassing moments and encourages the audience to do the same. It’s like group therapy, but funnier and with less crying. 'Effortlessly charming banter' - TheWeeReview.com 'Instantly likeable with strong gags to back it up' - Kerfuffle Comedy
