The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory KiDS Workshop offers children ages 8–17 on the autism spectrum or with cognitive or developmental disabilities a chance to celebrate their individuality, build social skills, and explore the performing arts in a supportive, inclusive setting.When: Saturday, March 1, 2025,
Drop Off no later than 1:45 p.m. for the 2:00 p.m. Sensory Friendly performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
KiDS Workshop will be 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM (after the performance)
Where: Room 201 in the Matthews Community Center (home of Matthews Playhouse) 100 East McDowell Street Matthews, NC 28105
Enrollment Fee: $40 per child. Price includes all workshop activities, take-home items, pizza, and admission for one (1) to the 2:00 p.m. Sensory-Friendly Performance of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory on Saturday, March 1, 2025. *Please bring your own water bottle!
Please do not arrive late to ensure your child has plenty of time to get comfortably seated before the performance begins! Your child will be supervised and accompanied by a Matthews Playhouse staff member to the KiDS workshop at 4:30 p.m. and must be picked up by 6:30 p.m.
Additional Workshop Details
-Children will be seated together during the performance and supervised by a group of trained staff and volunteers.
-Parents who wish to attend the show with their child must purchase their own ticket(s). They may do so by contacting the box office by calling (704) 846-8343 during business hours or emailing [email protected] and letting us know their child is participating in the KiDS workshop. While staff will do their best to seat parents with or near their child, seating together cannot be guaranteed. Showtimes and tickets to all performances are available at www.matthewsplayhouse.com. Tickets range in price from $18-$28.
-Space is limited to 15 children and registration will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 28 2025.
