We're excited to welcome back Charlie A'Court from Nova Scotia for our February concert! As always tickets cost $25 and the show will start a little earlier because it's a school night. Growing up in the deep forests north of his hometown of Truro, Nova Scotia, acclaimed singer/songwriter Charlie A’Court spent his youth playing among the trees and listening to his father’s record collection. The rugged and rural countryside offered a calm isolation from the outside world where Charlie would explore his musical playground. This instilled a comfortable relationship with the idea of solitude and would form the basis of Charlie’s new album, “San Palarino”.
Planted at the crossroads of roots and soul, Charlie possesses a mighty voice, and fierce guitar work whose heart-on-his-sleeve songwriting tells the stories of hard love, wandering souls and everyday heartaches. As a six-time East Coast Music Award winner and eight-time Nova Scotia Music Award winner, Charlie has earned awards for Blues, Pop, and R&B/Soul Recordings of the Year, and on multiple occasions been recognized as Entertainer of the Year. A’Court is also an in-demand songwriter having co-written songs for other ECMA winning artists like Christine
Campbell, Mike Biggar, and Quote The Raven.
San Palarino, is an Americana-driven deep dive into growing older, emotional wellbeing, and the collective weight bearing down on humanity. The album features cowrites with some of Canada’s top singer/songwriters including Matt Andersen, Terra Spencer, and Colin MacDonald (The Trews). The music is drawing directly
from his folk-rock influences like Martin Sexton, Melissa Etheridge, Hot House Flowers, and Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit. The lead single, ”Two Days of Highway" is an upbeat, electric-roots song capturing that feeling of being away from home for weeks on end and counting down those last, long 48 hours before you finally get
home to your loved-ones.
