Looking for a fun, low-pressure way for your kids to play competitive chess? Join us for the Charleston Kids Chess Jamboree—a casual, monthly event designed for K–12 students of all skill levels!
Whether your child is new to chess or has tournament experience, they'll enjoy learning, playing, and making friends in a welcoming community setting.
🧠What Makes This Event Special?
This is a casual-format tournament—organized like a real event, but focused on fun and growth. A great way for kids to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and enjoy the chess community.

5 Rounds · Swiss System (no eliminations—everyone plays all rounds!)
Time Control: G/10;+5 (10 minutes with 5-second increment)
Sections:
Unrated
USCF 600+
USCF Under 600
(Sections may be paired together but trophies awarded by section)
🕒 Event Schedule​
Check-in: 10:00-10:15 a.m.
Round 1: 10:25 AM
Round 2: 11:00 AM
Round 3: 11:35 AM
Pizza time: 12:10-12:30 PM
Round 4: 12:30 PM
Round 5: 13:05 p.m.
Awards Ceremony: 13:45 p.m.
🍕 Registration & Prizes
Fee: $25 per player
Includes pizza, drinks, and trophies for top 3 in each section.
First-time players receive a special gift and keepsake to celebrate their first tournament!

Space is limited—please register early to reserve your spot!
🚨 Important Notes
Advance registration is required. No walk-ins or same-day sign-ups.
Can’t stay all day? You may request one half-point bye when registering or before Round 1.
Bring a chess set and clock if you have them.
