Get in the mood to celebrate like never before as ModernSTL proudly presents Charles Phoenix: HOLIDAYLAND, a one-night-only live comedy retro slide show roasting and toasting all the holidays, at the IBEW Local 1 hall, designed by renowned mid-century modern architect Wenceslao Sarmiento, who will be celebrated during the program.
Retro pop humorist Charles Phoenix super charges the classic living room slide show into a laugh-out-loud extravaganza of mid-century merriment, fun-filled storytelling, and festive traditions. With his keen expertise, unbridled enthusiasm, and eagle eye for odd-ball detail, Phoenix’s lavishing commentary on “flea-market found" vintage Kodachrome slides reveals the whimsical and wondrous ways we decorated, dressed, dined, and drank for New Years, Easter, July 4th, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas in the 1950s and 1960s. He also shares eye-popping edible party centerpieces, and his “best of” guide to local holiday attractions.
