Join us for a conversation with Charlene Allen and Shannon C F Rogers for the launch of Allen’s newest book, My Fairy God Somebody.
My Fairy God Somebody is Allen’s second book and was named as the Spring 2025 selection for One Book Baltimore. Set against one unforgettable New York City summer, it is the story of lies that run deep and patterns that are meant to be broken. Clae, Nze, and Joelle will stick with you and remind you that every girl deserves to write her own story.
Charlene Allen holds an MFA in writing for children and young adults.
Shannon is a multiracial American writer of Fillipinx and European descent. Her debut novel, I’D RATHER BURN THAN BLOOM, won the Asian/Pacific American Award for Youth Literature in 2024. Shannon’s writing has appeared in Bodega Magazine, Newfound Journal, and on stage with Tricklock Company, Lady Luck Productions, and the UNM Words Afire Festival of New Plays.
