About this Event
Amy grew up in Westbury, Wiltshire where her passion for dance began. Amy went to Swindon Dance CAT scheme and later trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance gaining a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance. Amy is continuing her own education by studying a MA in Dance Research at Rambert School 2022-2024.
Since graduating Laban Amy created her own dance company AmyFoskettDance (AFD) where they have performed across the UK. AFD prioritise creating work that is accessible for all, drawing from her choreographic values, Movement, Visual, Human Nature and Connection.
As well as working on AFD Amy is a passionate teacher and has taught for 10 years, NLPAC, Highgate Ballet School, The Place, Swindon Dance, ALW Dance, Third Row Dance Company and Thrive Youth Dance. In 2021/22 Amy set up AFDYOUTH in Westbury Wiltshire, a youth dance company for young dancers in South Wiltshire. As well as teaching young dancer Amy is an associate lecturer at Bath Spa University teaching contemporary technique. Though focusing mainly on her company and teaching Amy still occasionally performs with her own company and with Thrive Dance since 2018.
Amy’s class will be a good ole mix of Cunningham and Release techniques with the aim to find a duality of tension and release, developing your movement control through the core and extension with your limbs. There will be a emphasise on floorwork with finding the flow and ease of transferring in and out of the floor as well as challenging your speed and direction when using the floor, all accompanied by a banging playlist. Making sure the class environment is relaxed, fun and remember not take things too seriously.
Class will be held in Dance Studio 4.
