Charcoal has many uses ranging from beauty products to health and wellness, gardening to animal keeping, and survival to fine art. In this workshop, participants will learn a little about the history of uses for charcoal, products which contain it, survival applications, ways to utilize it at home, how to make your own from start to finish, safety considerations and best foraging practices. Students will get hands-on time in class to help process (pre-cooked) charcoal, make a primitive toothpaste to try out in class, and test various drawing charcoals and tools. Please note that we will not be making the charcoal itself in class due to the time it takes from start to finish, but students will learn the entire process from making their cooking vessel, selecting wood, cooking, processing, and more. Participants should not wear white or light color clothing to class. Register at https://www.hisawyer.com/our-giving-garden/schedules/activity-set/812510
