About this Event
Learn to paint with powder charcoal with Tasha Fay at the Foundry Gallery. Tasha Fay's work combines the edge of modern graphics and the emotion of black and white paintings with the everyday wonders of our natural world all featuring paintings in powder charcoal. Walk away with an understanding of using powder charcoal, how to preserve your artwork, and your own matted original painting using the technique all with a small class size of no more than 15 people.
No experience necessary!
DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
The Foundry Gallery is located at 2118 8th St NW, Washington, DC 20001. Limited street parking is available in front of the gallery. There is also a parking garage under the building that you can utilize. It is a 7-minute walk from the U Street/African-Amer Civil War Memorial/Cardozo metro station or a 10-minute walk from the Shaw-Howard University Metro Station.
SUPPLIES
I will have all supplies needed to create your own original artwork including paper, tape, board, charcoal, brushes, and dishes. I often like using blow dryers to speed up the drying time. Feel free to bring your own blow dryer if you don't want to wait for mine.
CLOTHING
This is a casual painting class, so come as you are. My painting technique with powder charcoal is much less messy than traditional charcoal drawing and we will not be mixing paint so the likelihood of getting paint on your clothes is small, but never impossible.
REFRESHMENTS
Feel free to bring your own snacks if you’d like. Food and drinks are permitted in the gallery but expected limited table space while everyone is painting.
TICKETS
Printed tickets are not needed to enter the class. I’ll confirm your name and check you in as everyone arrives.
