Drawing Hands with Charcoal: A Reductive Method Workshop
with Pooja Campbell at The Grounds
Join us at The Grounds for a hands-on charcoal drawing class led by artist and instructor Pooja Campbell, where we’ll explore the expressive art of drawing hands using the reductive method. This powerful technique starts with a charcoal-toned surface and invites you to “pull out” the light using erasers and tools—revealing depth, texture, and form through subtraction rather than addition.
Together, we’ll break down the hand’s complex structure into simple shapes, study the way light moves across skin and bone, and slow down enough to truly see what’s in front of us. This class is both skill-building and meditative—perfect for beginners and returning artists alike.
