About this Event

Join us for this walking tour, CHANNEL-ING OUR PAST at Swansea. Enjoy the view of pristine waters, boating traffic, fishing and birdlife.

Take the opportunity to discover what existed along the bustling 1.5 km stretch of foreshore, starting at the RSL club. Recollections of ships, bridges, wharves and so much more, on the way to the boat ramp at Tom Humphreys Reserve, told in pictures and by locals.

Weather and Recommended Wear

  • Wear comfortable closed in shoes
  • Bring water, sunscreen and hat
  • In case of inclement weather, we will relocate to the Swansea Library at Level 1 Swansea Centre for a virtual tour.

Please note there is no need to print your tickets off for this event, the staff can provide an electronic check upon entry.

About the presenter

HELM is a volunteer group of local history enthusiasts who collect stories focused on the heritage of East Lake Macquarie. Stories are captured through interviews and complemented by searching public records, newspapers, old maps or other available documents.
