About this Event
Changing Room is a movie and a screening experience that can change your relationship with fashion conusmption, for the better of your wallet, the environment, and your emotional well-being.
Funded largely by the National Geographic Society and Kickstarter backing, the film is a work of dance and dance videography that shines light on the vulnerabilities we have shaped in our bodies.
Under the creative directorship of Adelene Stanley, founder of The Dance Circus (TDC) who was previously based in London where she worked on a touring show called INALA—in collaboration with 5-time Grammy Award winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo, 3-time Grammy Award winners Soweto Gospel Choir and dancers from The Royal Ballet and Rambert Dance Company—Changing Room is a short, but powerful film that unearths the relationship between our physical insecurities and climate change. With TDC dancers, Ahilya Kaul and Beryl Tay, and the videographic collaboration of Crispian Chan and Amirul Azmi, Changing Room will wholesomely draw audiences into the psychological world of the the mind-body relationship and its link to fashion consumption.
Every showtime has a film screening + movement therapy + Q&A + "wear counter" distribution, helping audiences to keep track of the consumption changes they make afterwards.
The film and experience are produced by Two Glasses LLP, co-founded by Thammika Songkaeo (2022-2023 National Geographic Explorer) and Experience Designer Xin You Tan, with support from the SG Eco Fund and partners and sponsors The Dance Place, SANS FAFF, Perk by Kate, and beige. social.
