Women in Film & Television Ireland presents:
Changemakers: A Conversation on Cinematography
Join WFT Ireland for a relaxed and inspiring in-conversation session spotlighting the work, craft and creative journeys of three exceptional cinematographers: Alba Fernández, Jaro Waldeck, ACK and Tasmanian-based DOP Ursula Woods.
Through film clips, behind-the-scenes insights and open discussion, our speakers will explore the craft of cinematography, the realities of working as women DOPs today, and the challenges and opportunities shaping the industry—both in Ireland and internationally.
Whether you're a filmmaker, cinematographer, student, or simply curious about the visual storytelling process, this is a unique chance to hear directly from three artists with distinct voices and global perspectives.

About the Speakers:
Alba Fernandez
Alba is a cinematographer based in Dublin. She graduated from the National Film School of Ireland and has been involved in over 60 shorts since. As a queer woman, she brings a fresh perspective to projects where characters are pushed past their limits and always appreciate a challenge to capture raw emotion and empathy through my visuals. Alba also has an MA in Screenwriting offering a unique perspective as a cinematographer when lifting a story from page to screen.
Jaro Waldeck, ACK
Jaro Waldeck is a cinematographer with bases in Ireland, Czech Republic and Sweden. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Cinematography from Columbia College Chicago, and a Master's Degree in Cinematography from FAMU Prague. Her first narrative feature Dreamtown premiered at Galway Film Fleadh 2024, along with Best Irish Documentary winning Feature Housewife of the Year. Jaro’s latest work includes Ardan/Curam funded medical documentary Counter Attack, a DLR First Frames short comedy drama Conveyance, an Actor As Creator short drama Shelter, an environmental documentary The Forest Midwife, and Ardan funded short lyrical documentary Caoinedh, and Engine short First Bloom.
Ursula Woods
Based in southern lutruwita/Tasmania, Ursula is a cinematographer and camera operator who loves to work on a range of productions such as narrative drama, documentary, music video and gallery installation. Ursula also creates moving image artworks in the experimental film space. She has a passion for DIY film processing and in-camera analogue techniques.
