Andy Mann is a renowned photographer, filmmaker, Emmy-nominated and 12-time Telly Award-winner who is driven by a deep passion to document and protect the world’s marine environments. He has logged thousands of hours, off all 7 continents, exploring the depths of our ocean to capture stunning visuals and raise awareness about the fragility of nature.
After an early start in adventure storytelling, focused on climbers, a deep-rooted affinity for the sea inspired him to pursue a career that combined his love for photography and marine conservation. As a founding member of SeaLegacy, alongside Paul Nicklen and fellow Changemaker, Cristina Mittermeier, his work is playing a pivotal role in telling the story of our rapidly changing planet, and inspiring critical change. In addition to SeaLegacy, Andy’s captivating images and stories have supported advocacy and protection efforts by Wildlife Conservation Society and National Geographic’s Pristine Seas Expedition. Andy’s work for Pristine Seas earned the organization the Russian Geographical Society’s Crystal Compass award for the storytelling that led to the designation of the world largest Arctic National Park in Franz Josef Land, Russia. His work in the eastern tropical pacific ocean between 2018-2021helped to create the world’s very first international marine protected area.
His conservation photography work has taken him to remote corners of the globe, from the icy waters of the Arctic to the vibrant coral reefs of the tropics. Through his lens, he tells compelling stories that resonate with audiences worldwide, showcasing the delicate balance of marine life and shedding light on the urgent need for its preservation “Whenever we give a voice to the voiceless, allowing beauty and grace to speak on their behalf, someone, somewhere in the world who would otherwise never visit a place as wild as the open ocean, will now dream of it.”
