You may recognize Chandra Currelley’s golden voice as the former lead singer of the legendary group The S.O.S. Band or from her captivating portrayal of 'Alice' in Tyler Perry’s BET Plus series Bruh. Chandra also lit up the screen as Ms. V. in Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse and the #1 box office hit Diary of a Mad Black Woman, where she performed as herself in the nightclub Chandra’s. And who can forget her powerful performance as Sister Laura, the choir soloist, in Madea’s Big Happy Family?
A recipient of the prestigious Lady Soul of Jazz Award, Chandra Currelley is celebrated for her ability to bring soul and jazz to life. On this special afternoon, she will honor the late, great Phyllis Hyman with a heartfelt performance featuring a blend of Phyllis’s timeless songs and her own, creating a show that is sure to captivate and entertain.
