Redding City Ballet’s Chance-2-Dance program is dedicated to enriching the lives of students in 3rd–5th grade through the art of ballet. This scholarship program provides young dancers with the opportunity to train, grow, and experience the joy of performance—regardless of financial barriers.
Chance-2-Dance offers a full year of ballet training at Redding City Ballet’s School of Dance, an allowance for required dance uniforms, and the exciting opportunity to audition for roles in Redding City Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker and our Spring Performance—a total value of up to $1,600.
Program Eligibility & Requirements:
-Open to students in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade (ages 8–10)
-Students must demonstrate a passion for ballet and financial need
-Families must provide household income information to determine eligibility
-Students and families must commit to attending ballet classes twice per week
Scholarship tiers are awarded based on demonstrated need:
-Full Scholarship
-75% Scholarship
-50% Scholarship
Audition Day Information:
-This is a mid-year Chance-2-Dance audition opportunity for students who love to move and are eager to learn but may not otherwise have access to formal ballet training.
What to Wear:
-Students should wear comfortable, fitted, workout-style clothing such as leggings and a fitted t-shirt. Dancewear (leotard, tights, etc.) is welcome if available. Ballet slippers are suggested but not required— clean socks are perfectly fine.
What to Expect:
During the audition, students will be guided through basic ballet steps and simple movements like marches and skips. Faculty will be observing each dancer’s ability to:
-Follow directions
-Listen and apply corrections
-Demonstrate coordination and musicality
No prior ballet experience is required— just enthusiasm, focus, and a willingness to try.
