About this Event
Join us Nov 6th, 2025 as we come together for our 2nd Annual Scholarship Dinner in celebration of Charles & Toy Chan-Kent's 50th wedding anniversary vision - to support and encourage local students to thrive in our community. Over the past 61 years since Charles & Toy created the Chan-Kent Foundation, over 200 scholarships have been awarded to bright, forward-thinking students and we are proud to carry their work into the future.
The Chan-Kent Foundation continues to award financial scholarships, now through Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and Vancouver Community College. These three schools have become valued partners in our mission to help forward ideas that change lives through Design and the Arts. The brilliant problem-solving work being develped in ECUAD, KPU and VCC impacts global sustainability, breaks ground in the field of medicine, protects our history and stories through thoughtful design, gives us a respite of beauty in a chaotic world, and helps us thrive through technology.
100% of the net proceeds from this evening go towards providing more scholarships as we join hand in hand with the community we serve here in Greater Vancouver. From the very beginning, it is a place the Chan-Kent family have called home. After working as a tailor, Charles Chan-Kent founded Aero Garment, one of the largest and longest-running clothing manufacturing factories in Canada. As it became a pillar for fashion and industry, their success paved way to create the '50th Golden Wedding Anniversary Scholarship Fund' 61 years ago. Many of the family-employees often ate at the Pink Pearl Restaurant where we'll be celebrating!
We look forward to an evening :
- hearing from our valued school partners
- introducing some of our talented recipients,
- enjoying a delicious family-style meal, with wine + pop (cash bar also available),
- bidding on incredible auction items + 50/50 draw,
- coming together as a community in support of Design + the Arts
We hope to see you there! Tickets are limited.
