Say Owt presents: CHAMÆLEON (Palestinian poet Farah Chamma & Brazilian producer LIEV)Support from Nadira Alom
£12 advance, £16 on the door
Doors 5.30pm, event finishes approximately 8.30pm
chamæleon is a collaboration between Palestinian writer Farah Chamma's poetry and Brazilian producer LIEV's music soundscapes. They explore the intersection between spoken word and musical texture, diving into the unknown to search for belonging and identity.
chamæleon have performed in Portugal, Holland, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. They proudly present their show So Many Ways to Move, to the UK. A poetic and political fusion of electronic music and poetry, inviting participants to engage in the movement against Israeli genocide and settler-colonialism. It offers a journey inward—toward both the self and the collective, framed by the urgent realities of today.
The performance reflects on resistance in its many forms, confronting complicity in the physical and psychological wars waged against Palestine, Lebanon, and neighboring regions. It is a call to recognize and harness our collective strength against oppressive systems.
Through this performance, the duo navigates the intersections of the personal and the political, especially amidst the ongoing Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people. Farah and Liev believe in the power of art—not only to reflect the times but to move with them. They see art as a force of transformation, a channel for resistance and renewal. By weaving together sound, text, and imagery, they illuminate our shared experiences and struggles.
So Many Ways to Move is part of An Artist’s Manual Against Apartheid (AAMAA), a collaborative project between chamæleon, Shubbak Festival, and partners.
FARAH CHAMMA
Palestinian poet Farah Chamma has performed around the world, including events such as Palestine en Campagne (France), Wilde Möhre (Germany), Bradford Literature Festival (UK), Karama Film Festival (Jordan), Faladura (Portugal), Requiem for Justice (Mexico), Le Guess Who? (Holland) and many more. Her performances are vital and urgent, speaking truth to power from festivals to demonstrations. If ever words could tear down the gates of power, it would be those spoken by Farah.
Besides her native Arabic, she also writes and performs in English and French and speaks German, Spanish and Portuguese. She holds a master’s degree in Performance and Culture from Goldsmiths, University of London and a BA in Philosophy and Sociology from the Sorbonne in Paris.
LIEV
A multi-instrumentalist and electro-organic music producer based in Brazil, LIEV’s research dives into the intersectionality between machine and human made sounds. Within his body of work, everyday noises and the human voice - mostly in spoken word pieces - are the raw material that ends up mixed with more complex machine and AI-generated sounds, birthing soundscapes and music that delves into the contemporary human experience. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts from the Unesp Arts Institute and works in the space between these three fields: Visual Arts, Music and Technology.

DOBERWOMAN is the digital noise-based side project of folk-punk protest musician and songwriter Alice Nicholls. A far cry from their usual multi-instrumental set up, armed with MIDI and a megaphone, she creates an explosion of intense harmonies paired with lyrics of expressive, yet eloquent, rage. DOBERWOMAN is electro riot grrl: a screaming, yelling, tantrum-throwing brainchild; a gnashing-toothed musical response to a world that expects girls to shut up. What happens when women let loose their anger after being told they should be quiet? What happens when we get fed up of being afraid? DOBERWOMAN happens.Debut EP in the works, listen at www.soundcloud.com/doberwomansounds
