About The Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA):
The YAA is an independent charity that provides emergency response air ambulances for the people of Yorkshire. Their mission is to deliver and develop state-of-the-art air ambulances with integrity, transparency, and pride to protect human life.
The YAA's fleet of air ambulances and Rapid Response Vehicles (RRVs) operate from air support units at RAF Topcliffe near Thirsk and The Nostell Priory Estate near Wakefield. They can fly at speeds of up to 160 mph and reach 90% of Yorkshire within 20 minutes. The YAA also has night vision goggles so they can fly at night.
The YAA is entirely public-funded and it costs £19,000 a day to keep their helicopters maintained and in the air. They are grateful for all donations, no matter how big or small, and also accept one-off or recurring donations. Supporters can also fundraise for the YAA by taking part in sponsored dog walks or creating a Just Giving page. The YAA is also looking for volunteers across Yorkshire.
