About Yu & I:Join us in the Great Room for another quality performance.
Winners of the Beverly Hills National Auditions, violinist YuEun Gemma Kim (Korea) and guitarist Ines Thomé (Germany) formed Yu&I Duo after meeting as housemates while studying at USC’s Thornton School of Music. Their shared love of chamber music and Korean cuisine sparked a lasting partnership that has since captivated audiences nationwide.
Acclaimed for their artistry and engaging stage presence, Yu&I performs an eclectic repertoire spanning early music on period instruments to imaginative arrangements of popular works. They have appeared at leading venues including The Blue Hill Concert Association, UCLA’s Bruman Chamber Music Festival, Knoxville Guitar Society, Sacramento Chamber Music Society, and The Pamlico Musical Society.
In their 2024–25 season, Yu&I Duo tours across more than 20 U.S. cities and celebrates the release of their debut album, A Journey with Yu&I—a vibrant blend of folk-inspired melodies from South Korea and Germany.
Doors open at 1pm. Opening Act of local youth musicians begins at 1:30. Sponsored by the NC Arts Council.
