About this Event
The seminal work of French composer Olivier Messiaen, Quartet for the End of Time was composed in 1941 while the composer was a German prisoner of war at Stalag-VIIA. The piece is one of mystery, strength, and transcendent beauty, and remains one of the most important works of chamber music ever composed. Performed this afternoon by violinist Ming-Huan Xu, cellist and co-Artistic Director Nick Photinos, pianist Winston Choi, and Chicago Symphony clarinetist John Bruce Yeh, this promises to be a spectacular event.
