GRUPO ABECEDARIO has been performing together since 2023. The group takes its name from the Spanish term abecedario, referring to an old system of chord diagrams used in Renaissance and Baroque Spanish guitar instruction books. This system, commonly found in sources for the vihuela (a precursor to the guitar) and early Baroque guitar, served as a guide for teaching chordal accompaniment. Interestingly, the groupโs name also reflects the initials of its members: Agung Dayaw A. Sicam, Beatrice Rose Cena, Charles Alexandre Magno, and Dakila Likha de Leon. Under the guidance of their mentor, Dr. Ivar Fojas, this ensemble of young guitarists has performed at prestigious venues including the National Arts Center, Manila Pianos, Kayserburg Recital Hall, DLSU Laguna Learning Commons, and the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium at De La Salle University (DLSU).
