About this Event
Exploring Drawing with Charcoal and Chalk
This course explores charcoal and chalk pastels as media and involves use of the gridding method as a means of assisting artists in creating enlarged portraits, landscapes, or still life pieces based on source photographs. Participants will learn about how charcoal can be used to accomplish dramatic contrast, a wide range of values, and texture in black and white artworks. Chalk pastels may also be incorporated for participants wishing to explore color. Participants will have the opportunity to select their own source photos to create a work of art that is meaningful to them.
This course is taught by Dr. Andy Jeter. Jeter is a Lee County high school art and design teacher who specializes in working with charcoal and has displayed work in the local Arts for ACT gallery and local exhibitions. He typically creates dog portraits for commissions and gallery sales but also enjoys drawing pieces with skulls as the subject as well. His work in traditional and non-traditional media may be viewed at AndyJeter.com.
