Explore a creative and inspiring practice using the chair as your primary yoga prop.Optional add-on: $25 to make your own yoga chair.
All materials will be provided, and you'll go home with your own backless yoga chair.
The use of props was developed by B.K.S Iyengar to enable every person to improve his/her asana practice and benefit from it. The main purpose of the props is to help the practitioner:
~ perform asanas which are difficult to do independently
~ achieve and maintain the correct alignment during the practice
~ stay longer and relax in challenging asana in order to attain the full benefit
~ study and investigate the asanas in greater depth
Eyal Shifroni's "A Chair for Yoga" is a fantastic resource for practicing yoga with the chair. Copies will be available for purchase, at a discount for those attending this workshop.
This is for all levels of practitioners or teachers! Come learn, explore and connect with your Yoga Shed community!
We will spend some time after class making our own yoga chairs.
$25 add-on (paid in cash on the day of the workshop). Cost includes all materials (folding chair/sander/sports tape). Making the chair is as easy as banging out a piece of metal (hello - catharsis!), filing down some sharp edges and taping the back for comfort.
