The strong emotions of grief often manifest physically, showing up as tight shoulders and jaws, headaches, digestive issues, or overall tension. The gentle movements, breathing, and mindfulness of yoga can help ease these symptoms. In this introductory Chair Yoga for Grief class, you will explore some easy movements and breath practices that will leave you feeling calmer and more at peace, regardless of your current circumstances. No previous yoga experience is necessary, and all poses will be done seated in a chair or standing next to it.
Nancy Watson has been a yoga practitioner for almost 25 years and is a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200) as well as a certified chair yoga instructor. She currently teaches weekly chair and vinyasa flow yoga classes at the Richardson Senior Center, The Mat Yoga Studio, and Good Vibes Yoga (through Movement Therapy). Additionally, Nancy offers Yoga for Grief and Loss sessions at various locations in the North Dallas area.
In 2019, Nancy experienced a traumatic loss, and it was yoga that saved her. When she learned about the Compassionate Bereavement Care Yoga certification program offered through the MISS Foundation, she was drawn to it immediately. This training program made a huge impact on her, and she is proud to have achieved the Compassionate Bereavement Care Yoga certification, making her the first and only CBC-Y certified yoga teacher in the Dallas area.
Join us at the JCC to find peace and support through yoga.
