About this Event
Sampad South Asian Arts & Heritage present:
Chai & Chat
For South Asian History Month, we welcome Dr Shahmima Akhtar, Assistant Professor of Black and Asian British History at the University of Birmingham. Her current area of interest is anti racist activism within British Bangladeshi communities in Birmingham in the late twentieth century with a focus on women’s activism. Dr Akhtar will share her own story of growing up in Birmingham and following her dreams to achieve an independent career. Her story will resonate with many of us and we invite you to come, be part of and share in this conversation with a cup of chai of course…
Chai and Chat is an empowering women-led initiative led by Sampad South Asian Arts and Heritage, crafted to cultivate an atmosphere of informal yet inspiring discussions across a diverse spectrum of topics. This uniquely designed platform serves as more than just a gathering—Sampad endeavour to create a safer space in which open dialogue can take place and ideas explored through conversations with female artists and cultural practitioners.
