This class is presented by Eriko, a qualified tea instructor from Japan.
Students will learn and acquire basic skills in Chado, the Japanese tea ceremony, through practicing the complete procedure of 'Bonryaku Temae' at the table.
The tutor will demonstrate the entire procedure at every lesson, guiding students through each step until they can perform it independently by the end of the course.
In the final session, students will make Matcha tea in pairs or a group to celebrate their achievement with Japanese sweets.
This course emphasises hands-on practice, making it ideal for those interested in experiencing the tradition firsthand.
Those looking for a more general understanding of the history and philosophy of Chado are encouraged to enrol in the 'Experience Chado (Japanese Tea Ceremony)' course.
This course runs for 8 weeks x 1.5 hours.
