This 3 day training course introduces you to the various aspects of being a 1st Assistant Cameraperson. It will take you through the entire process from getting the phone call, organizing crew, prepping the camera package, pulling focus and wrapping a job successfully. The class focuses on practical application of the skills and will allow ample time for each participant to get familiar and comfortable with various camera systems andaccessories. The class is taught using established industry standard practices and prepares you for real life scenarios.
By the end of this program participants will have an understanding of the responsibilities and duties that a 1st AC provides. They will be able to start with a phone call informing them of a job, proceed to do a thorough and rigorous prep, perform their duties on set with confidence and professionalism and finally to wrap out the job and return the equipment. All of it while having fun! Each class has a limit of 12 attendees to ensure ample hands-on experience with the equipment, and a high ratio of time with instructors. Typical on-set situations and common workflows will be explored. You will also learn the most effective ways to deal with situations that might arise while you are shooting, so you are prepared to handle different scenarios calmly and with confidence.
The class is taught by an experienced Local 600 Union 1st AC who will draw from real-life experiences to explain the various aspects of being a 1st AC.
