Certificate in Psychedelic Integration Therapy for Allied Health Professionals Available as face to face training or online recordings.

(Level 1 Training for Allied Health Professionals, Yoga Teachers & Therapists, Meditation Teachers)
To mitigate the impacts of suicide, long-term mental health issues, chronic pain, and addiction and reduce the effects of PTSD and suffering in families and communities, BIYOME is now offering a 50-hour certificate in Psychedelic Integration Therapy for Allied Health Professionals. Psychedelic medicine is a cutting-edge field in psychiatry and mental health treatment that involves the legal use of psilocybin and MDMA in Australia. These substances are administered by trained psychiatrists.
In Australia, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has announced that from 1 July 2021, psychiatrists who are authorised under the Authorised Prescriber Scheme will be able to prescribe medicines containing psilocybin and MDMA for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and treatment-resistant depression, respectively. The decision acknowledges the lack of options for patients with specific treatment-resistant mental illnesses and allows the use of psilocybin and MDMA in a controlled medical setting. The decision will also list psilocybin and MDMA as Schedule 8 (Controlled Drugs) medicines in the Poisons Standard, restricting their supply to clinical trials for all other uses. Psychiatrists will need to be approved under the Authorised Prescriber Scheme and prescribed the substances under strict controls that ensure the safety of patients. There are currently no approved products containing psilocybin or MDMA evaluated for quality, safety, and efficacy, but authorised psychiatrists will be able to access and legally supply a specified ‘unapproved’ medicine containing these substances to patients under their care for these specific uses.

Psychedelic-assisted therapy is now legally administered by a treating psychiatrist or qualified physician with supervision in Australia and a growing body of countries across the globe. It involves controlled doses of psychedelic substances to help patients gain insight and understanding of their mental health conditions, leading to changes in their behaviour and thought patterns. Recent studies have shown the effectiveness of psychedelic-assisted therapy in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction.
This 50hr Psychedelic Integration Therapy course combines traditional wisdom and modern research, educating health professionals, counsellors, teachers, and therapists on integrating the post-psychedelic journey. The course is offered out of the growing need to assist the many who turn to psychedelic medicine needing supportive practices to integrate their journey with lifelong meditation skills, yoga, mindfulness, creative therapies, embodiment practices and deep listening skills to bring about similar states of consciousness. These elevated states of consciousness have been described in the sutras and have long been adhered to by the spiritual disciplines of Yoga and Buddhism. After experiencing the effects of psychedelics, many individuals seek to replicate those effects without using external substances. As a result, they turn to practices such as yoga and meditation, often also needing psychological support or wise counsel. However, few mental health or allied health professionals are equipped to support individuals during the integration phase of their healing journey. This course aims to bridge that gap by providing education and training to allied health professionals and anyone interested in mind-body medicine. Mental health professionals, psychologists, counsellors, researchers, and Senior yoga and meditation teachers will share their evidence-based knowledge of psychedelic integration therapy. The course aims to recognise and honour the traditional uses of psychedelic medicine and support its integration into modern mental health research and healing.
Psychedelic Integration Therapy 50hrs
Psychedelic medicine has a rich history of promoting consciousness and healing in various traditions and cultures. Yoga has connections to psychedelic therapy since Vedic times, referenced in the Sutras of Patanjali. Psychedelic medicine can help people reach a state of source consciousness or a state of samadhi by shutting down the default mode network. Participants often report a sense of “ego dissolution” or “boundless oceanic consciousness.”
Yoga and meditation practices can support altered states of consciousness that come with psychedelic journeys. Psychedelic medicine is increasingly seen as an adjunct therapy for trauma and psychological conditions. This course teaches life practices that assist clients in integrating insights gained in therapy into their daily lives.
This course combines the historical accounts of traditional wisdom with current ground-breaking research, covering the benefits of psychedelic medicine’s psychological and spiritual elements, backed by a deep experiential understanding of altered states of consciousness naturally attained through meditation and yoga. These naturally obtained meditative states support the opening of higher states of consciousness, now revered by research.
The course will explore the ethical considerations surrounding using these drugs in clinical settings. Providing patients with a safe and controlled environment in which to experience the effects of these drugs and the need for trained professionals to guide patients through the process is a wise consideration. Additionally, we will discuss the needed future research into the long-term effects of psychedelics on mental health conditions and the potential risks associated with their use.

Psychedelic-assisted therapy is still a relatively new and emerging field, and many factors must be considered before pursuing this type of treatment. Patients should only undergo psychedelic-assisted therapy under the guidance of a trained and licensed medical professional in a controlled and medically supervised environment. Overall, while the use of psychedelic substances in therapy is still a controversial and evolving field, the promising results of recent research suggest that they may offer new and effective treatment options for patients struggling with mental health conditions. Please note that BIYOME does not endorse using psychedelic medicine without professional guidance and support.
DISCLAIMER: All applicants still need to undergo an individual accreditation process with AMAPP and are encouraged to reach out to AMAPP for any further questions about their individual learning context.
Participation in psychedelic medicine work in the legal community context with MDMA and Psilocybin is always dependent upon TGA and HREC protocol approvals and legislation requirements.
