About this Event
This is an accredited and specialist Level 4 Three-Day training course - delivered over three successive Thursdays (17th, 24th & 31st October 2024).
When someone receives a terminal diagnosis, both they and their loved ones start to experience Anticipatory Grief - similar in ways to Post-Death Grief, but also with a significant number of differences. If we are to be able to support those terminally-ill individuals and their families with compassionate competence, patience and care, then we will need to acquire a sound understanding of Anticipatory Grief if our presence is to be rich and valuable.
Learning Units include 21st Century Attitudes to Feath, Dying & Grief; The Key Elements of Anticipatory Grief; Primary Differences between Anticipatory and Post-Death Grief; The Role of Hope & Denial in Anticipatory Grief; The Impact on Family Dynamics; The Family's Sociopsychological Balance during Anticipatory Grief; The Fears & Hopes of the Dying; The Losses Facing the Dying; Concept of Annihilation Anxiety; Key Issues od Parental Anticipatory Grief; Good Communicating with the Dying; and Best Practicein Understanding Anticipatory Grief.
