Introduction for Community Emergency Response Team FEMA IS 317A
Course Length approx. 2 hours
This Independent Study (IS) course is an introduction to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program for those interested in learning about the CERT program for their own knowledge or as a pre-requisite for completing the CERT Basic classroom training that may be available in your community. The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT; What CERTs Do; and, Becoming Involved. This course requires you to register for a FEMA student ID and/or have your already populated student ID to take the final exam. The final exam is the FEMA required assessment located at FEMA.gov. The exam can be taken independently. You will be provided a link on the classroom platform.
Incident Command System for CERT Teams IS 315a
Pre-Requisites: IS 317a and ICS 100
This Independent Study (IS) course introduces you to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) relationship to the Incident Command System (ICS), a proven management system used by emergency managers to help maintain the safety of disaster workers, provide clear leadership and organizational structure, and improve the effectiveness of rescue efforts. This program educates any Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program manager, CERT trainer, or emergency responder who may manage and/or coordinate with a CERT about the CERT’s potential roles in a disaster or emergency situation. The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT; What CERTs Do; and, Becoming Involved.
